Taiwanese food has made quite a presence in the minds of many food fanatics here in Malaysia for some time now. The same can be said for their desserts and drinks, as Malaysians, as well as the rest of the world, are all too familiar with drinks like bubble tea. That said, there's only a small number of dessert parlours out there specialising in Taiwanese desserts, and a large majority of them are located in the Klang Valley. One of the few that are in this already small minority is Snow City Desserts, which opened up in June 2015, and is located on the second floor of the KSL City Mall in Johor Bahru.
As far as the dessert selection goes, customers will no doubt be spoilt for choice at Snow City Desserts. For starters, there are plenty of different flavours of baobing (shaved ice) that are available, such as mango, green tea, coconut, chocolate, durian, and much more. These plate of baobing come with a side of the same fruit used in the flavouring, as well as other sweet condiments like tapioca pearls and glutinous rice balls (red beans and chocolate chips for the green tea and chocolate flavours respectively). The glutinous rice balls themselves can also be had as a standalone dessert plate, with bigger sized balls compared to what's served with the baobing.
There are also glutinous rice rolls, cold cake, gui ling gao, sweet sauces, pudding, and a whole lot more served here. So if you're looking to sample some great Taiwanese desserts in Johor Bahru, Snow City is your best bet.
