Located in Batu Feringghi Penang, Helena Cafe sits itself as a popular to-go place that offers varieties of local dishes of Malaysia. It does not come to our surprise that Helena Cafe is actually a popular cafe among tourists considering that Batu Feringghi is often populated by backpackers and expats and among the many cafes and restaurants around there, Helena Cafe always make the cut for them to get their weekly, or even daily, fix of their favourite local dishes around. Interestingly Helena Cafe was first established in 1970 and still is standing strong after decades of battling against the test of time. Nevertheless even after years and years, the quality of the dishes do not even tone down one bit and the locality in each dish is hinted at every bite.
The menu is extensive enough with varieties to choose from ranging from the ever classic fried rice to yong tau foo. Snacks such as satays, spring rolls, and flatbread are also at hand and Helena will not disappoint. Western dishes also such as Fish and Chips is also available. The locality of the menu is apparent to the eyes likewise the seasoned cafe is evident to the eyes with old signage still hanging at the front door but the tables and chairs have been revamped putting forth a rather edgy and modern setting. The seasoned ceiling and cemented floors are well lit throughout the cafe space. Lunch and dinner sets are available during weekdays; we guess it pretty much explains as to why regulars simply cannot get enough of this place.
