Tucked in the corner of Jalan 21/11B and Jalan 21/17A in PJ, AIK Asam Laksa has been one of the most frequent places locals would stop by to get their hands on the Asam laksa and prawn noodles. The stall has been attracting many current locals and new one customers. The stall has been faithfully running for over 20 years. It was located in Bangsar but shifted its business here in PJ.
The noodles are cooked in the food truck. The food truck is placed near a corner rooftop covered with an umbrella and tents to shield customers from the sweltering hot sun. It is placed outdoors near the roadside. The condition of the place is kept poorly, however, loyal customers do not bother about the poor condition because they enjoy the meal itself more than what’s around them. Old foldable tables and plastic stools are placed around the tent and along under the roofs.
The stall’s signature dish is discernibly the asam laksa. Many customers have mentioned that the tastes are similar to the one back in Penang where it was originated. Although there were some criticisms of the dish itself but generally the asam laksa depicts different preferences to different people. AIK also serves prawn noodles (known as Hokkien Mee to Penang locals). Only two types of dishes are served by them.
The mobile hawker food has gone to great extends to making both the noodle dishes to a standard that is worth to be called a ‘ho-chiak’ dish. Reasonably priced and fairly good service. Bare in mind that this opens from noon to 5pm and closes on Mondays.
