Amongst a surging artisanal cafe scene and strong roadside stall presence, lies Kedai Ali Kopi; a stall located near the PTPL College and Sekolah Menengah Sri Pelita in Jalan Burma. One of the major things to take note of about this stall is the fact that it one of, if not, the only stall-based cafe that is open for 24-hours. Thus, no surprise that this becomes a hotspot for many Penangites. This stall mainly specialises in Mamak fare (often with  slight twist) and other specialty items.

One of the standout dishes of this stall according to many Penangites is the Roti John Hong Kong. It consists of 2 fried eggs on top of toasted bread. There’s also a sausage and a piece of cheese just below the egg, sandwiched in between the egg and the bread. There are many other crazily named variations of this dish such as Roti Osama, Roti Chicago and much more.

The more familiar local items get a bit of a twist at this stall. A good example of this is the nasi lemak goreng, which has all the common nasi lemak ingredients stir fried in one go, with an egg placed on top. Another example of this is also seen in their maggi goreng tom yam, which combines the familiar local dish with a Thai twist.

So head on down to Kedai Ali Kopi if you're looking to stuff yourself with great, rich food and easy going cafe drinks. This is surely the place to be for a quick meal anytime of the day, especially if you're looking to have a heavy supper.
