D’Tavern Restaurant & Pub is considered as one of the
earliest pubs to operate in Port Klang. The pub sticks to the theme of the name
of the restaurant and done in the way of a tavern, an old style eating and
drinking establishment that used to be a popular form of entertainment in older
Europe. The culture is still around today, just that they are no longer called
taverns. D’Tavern however, followed more of the British style tavern with its
dark wood furniture and chequered table cloths, in the midst of pictures of legendary celebrities decorated on their walls.
The menu at D’Tavern is quite extensive with multiple
choices of different type of meal; salad, pasta, mains of beef, chicken, fish,
and seafood, as well as desserts and non-alcoholic drinks. A few notable dishes
that are particularly popular with the crowd are the Barbecued Chicken, Pan
Seared Fillet of Salmon and Beurre Blanc, and the Charbroiled Australian
Sirloin Steak. Serving of charbroiled chicken with homemade BBQ sauce served with French
fries, green peas and salad, the Barbecued ChickenChopis a complete meal on its
own. The salmon under the section ‘daily catch from the straits’ is a dish of
Norwegian salmon grilled with butter and topped over with white wine butter
sauce. There is also a non-alcoholic version with a different
sauce.
Weekends
seem to be the best time to visit without having to worry about packed crowd.
The usual meal at D’Tavern would first come in the form of hot bun and butter
that is all about simple pleasures. Before going on with any of the mains, some
appetizers worth noting are the French Onion Soup with cheese and crouton, or
the local favourite Fresh Oxtail Soup.
