Not like any other indie cafés around Ipoh,
this one has a cheerful and lively vibe to it. You will instantly feel the
happy vibe the moment you set your eyes at the shop entrance – wooden frontage
with colourful letters spelling ‘Foods Project’. The interior of the café is
filled with beautiful mixture of warm and cool hues such as blue, brown and
white. You can also spot unique and quirky DIY furniture where tables and
chairs are made of wood pieces and pallets. Cute wooden blocks are arranged
neatly at one side of the wall making it the ‘photobooth’ for every patrons who
wants to keep a memory of this place.
Instead of coming up with the typical
Western delicacies on their menu, Foods Project Café wants to go to a different
direction; local food! One of their bestseller is the Mee Rebus Mama. The dish
is cooked by the owner’s mother herself and it is full of Malay authenticity in
it – orange coloured and delectable gravy, with a hint of sweetness and the use
of various spices. Laksa Penang is also one of the recommended dishes that
gives a strong fish flavour and a hint of spices. For patrons who wants
something authentic, they can go for the Nasi Kerabu and Nasi Dagang. Nevertheless,
you can also see several Western cuisines up on their menu to give people a
more diverse food selection.
Besides all the heavy delicacies available, desserts like pavlova, cheesecakes, and tarts are all up for grabs. For drinks, you might want to try the Malay Chatime and Apple Asam Boi for something different and refreshing. Reflecting its name ‘Foods Project Café, looks like they were planning their ‘project’ carefully before serving the best quality food to their customers.
