This Japanese restaurant has an interesting concept which is not common in Malaysia’s context: pairing sushi with its original beverage- Sake. There are at least 80 types of sake rice in Japan but the more popular ones are Yamadanishiki, Gohyakumangoku, Miyamanishiki and Omachi, which are also available in the restaurant itself. Upon entering the place, you will be greeted accordingly by a small walkway which will then lead you to the main part of the restaurant. It is divided into two common areas, one be the bar and the other the dining area.
The bar is for those who want an environment to enjoy the different kinds of drinks available together with cake and gelato. While for those who are looking for a proper place to dine-in, you can proceed to the dining area. There are spaces available for large groups as well in their comfortable private rooms if you would love some privacy.
For a more fruitful dining experience, you should know that their ingredients are air-flown in from Japan and Europe twice a week. Therefore, you are able to taste the freshest sushi ever made! Heading the remarkable kitchen and the brains behind its modern list of Japanese inspired cuisine is Chef Thomas Lim. Some dishes are prepared live and you can capture him in action from within the dining area. Our advice? Start with a few dishes of handmade sushi for appetisers before proceeding to your main courses. Nonetheless, they are already enough to satisfy your appetite for lovely Japanese cuisine!
They have an interesting way to look at the menu which is where dishes are recommended based on the number of diners, therefore there are always more choices for you to savour. One of their famous ones is the Baked Japanese Yam with Cheese. The special point of this sushi is it is burnt with light fire right at your table before it is ready to eat. The Japanese mountain yam is light and crunchy, with a very slight slimy texture when you eat it.
Be prepared to devour the range of salads that they have. They are prepared in a presentation as such looks like it is already a main course. Vegetables are neatly placed with other ingredients depending on what kind you ordered and the sauce is carefully drizzled upon so that it is enough for flavour. And if you are lucky, the owner Mr. Eddie might just join in and give you an inside scoop on how the place came about!
With premium seasonal fishes for sashimi for the Japanese connoisseurs, Hana Dining and Sake is definitely a place that will change your mind on Japanese fare.
