Early risers and wanderers in Melaka, take a journey through Jalan Semabok. Located right opposite Honda car motor showroom lies a hidden gem called “Kedai Makanan Dan Minuman Taman Udang” that serves some the local favourites. A humble beginning which started in the year 1990 is still up and running until today. The restaurant is currently owned by Mr Terrance and his wife. Initially, it was manned by his mother and wife while Mr Terrance was working full time as an employee in a company. He started to take over when his mum couldn’t cope with the heavy work as it gets quite busy often times.
The restaurant occupies a modified house-shop which can fit about 10 tables enough to fit just the right amount for the couple to handle. Customers would not need to worry as the facilities are fairly satisfactory and also receiving friendly and good service from the owners.
The restaurant’s signature dishes are the prawn mee and laksa. Both rated as top sellers because it carries an authentic flavour leaving customers coming back for more. There’s no secret recipe or special added ingredient but it’s the style of how both these dishes were prepared. You could say that it’s all part and parcel of the working process to make the dish delectable.
Aside from the two famed dishes served, there’s also economy rice where customers can pick and mix different dishes as their sides together with white rice. The all-time favourite and typical breakfast styled bread and butter is also available. To top it off, complete it with a cup of good old black coffee to kick start a good jolly day.
