Nara Kitchen & Co (“Nara” - a
Greek girl's name that means 'happy') is a nice addition to the already
flourishing food hub filled with cafés, hawker stalls and dessert joints that
is the Damansara Uptown area. The restaurant is run by Andrew Tan and Caroline
- the same team responsible for restaurants such as The Good Batch and Hyde. The
duo are trying their hand at organic food and healthy dishes – a trend that’s
all the rage these days.
When it comes to the food served
here, there’s certainly plenty to enjoy here, including crowd favourites such
as the Big Belly, which is a mix of quinoa, roasted beets, orange wedges, mint,
sliced kyuri, hummus, miso vinaigrette and edible flowers. Another favourite is
the Organic Scramble which uses free-range eggs, caviar, tobiko, tempura
mushrooms and is served with a croissant, as well as the lobster roll with a
brioche bun. An interesting thing to note about Nara Kitchen & Co. is that
the menu boasts a lot of fresh ingredients as the team makes their own jams,
marmalade and almond butter; even the breads are baked in-house (except for the
croissants, which are outsourced for now until they perfect their own recipe).
To fill up that auxiliary stomach,
some of the dessert items that can be enjoyed here include a variety of
waffles, as well as local artisanal ice cream from Forty Licks. So if you’re
looking for an enjoyable experience when it comes to healthy and organic food,
Nara Kitchen & Co. is certainly the place to go.
