For those who are looking for mouth-watering nasi lemak at a place nearby the town area, this is the place to go. Situated at Batu Lancang, right opposite Lam Wah Ee Hospital, you should be able to find Nasi Lemak Liverpool Café. According to the cafe owner, Mohd. Fadzley Zimmermann, it began to operate after he immigrated to this country in the early 1990s. Armed with a keen interest in business, the first unnamed cafe began to change facial features characteristic of the team football club Liverpool since 14 years ago. With its given name, you can be sure that the owner is a die-hard fan of the team.
The place is heavily decorated with Liverpool merchandise in order to raise spirits when one watches matches involving the Reds. Now, not only will the place be swarmed by fans of The Reds from Penang, supporters from Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore are not excluded as well!
One of the common serving consists of fragrant coconut rice, well-fried quarter chicken, anchovies and some cucumbers matched with its winning splurge of spicy sambal. Customers can also choose their own combination of other dishes if they want to try something different from the ordinary.
Besides the famous dish, they also have a list of other food like Seafood Tomyam and the wet version of Char Koay Teow served with egg gravy.
The place is open during the second half of the day for mainly dinner till late supper (6.30 p.m. – 2.00 a.m.) but is closed on Tuesdays. This would be a nice place to chill to watch a football match or to fill an empty tummy during odd hours. The area can get really crowded fast so one has to reach early to secure a place so sit as there would not be much parking available given the space has been occupied with additional tables and chairs. Despite the price being slightly high, the taste will not disappoint a hungry supporter.
