Night markets (also more commonly known as a Pasar Malam to the locals) are very commonplace in Penang and are scattered throughout the island. They are a fun place to stroll around in the evening, and they also help to serve the desires and needs of the surrounding community, whether it be groceries, merchandise, and most certainly, street food. The night market near the Jerejak Islands are no exception to this, with an added bonus of a great view of the beach.
Some of the great food that customers can enjoy include lok lok. The lok lok spread here is very wide and it is a favourite among the locals. Similarly, a variety of satay, which includes beef chicken and mutton, is also available at the night market.
Another top draw at the market is Ibrahim’s Laksa. The noodles, vegetables, and half a hard-boiled egg are packed to go, and all Ibrahim has to do is pour the spicy soup from the large vat of it at his stall.
There are also a number of fried snacks that can be obtained from the market. A few of which include keropok lekor, fish crackers, and curry puffs to name a few.
As for more substantial meals, customers can also enjoy fried goods like fried noodles and carrot cake.
