Restoran Ceria is a shop in Seksyen 3 Shah Alam that is famously
known to be one of the best places in Shah Alam for the ultimate Malaysian
favourite, Nasi Lemak.
The layout of the restaurant is simple enough
with the usual tables and plastic chairs, though not as rustic as some places;
the easy interior is great for casual dining and conversation.
Starting off with the Nasi Lemak, of course you could
always get the normal one of just rice, anchovies, peanuts, cucumber slices and
sambal, but the actual fun of Nasi Lemak is having it with a side
dish that would truly complete the meal. The options come in the usual
variation; chicken, beef, squid, prawn, fried lungs (paru goreng), and cockles.
The few types that seem to be favoured by the crowd are the Nasi Lemak with
Fried Chicken, and Nasi Lemak with Squid Sambal. The thing that got people
raving about Restoran Ceria is the quality taste of their food. Fragrant well
cooked rice, excitingly red coloured sambal that is both sweet and spicy but
not too much, and much appreciated juicy and flavourful fried chicken while
maintaining a savoury and crisp exterior. Patrons could choose to add a sunny
side up with fully cooked or with a runny yolk, known here as ‘telur goyang’.
The next best thing at Restoran Ceria is their Cakoi or as Google calls it,
Youtiao. The simple Chinese delicacy is said to be better than some Chinese joints
and Restoran Ceria took one step further and serves it with homemade kaya jam.
Certain hours can get quite busy, weekend mornings
in particular so be prepared. Other worthy dishes are Roti Tampal Telur Goyang
and Fried Noodles.
