Located near Wangsa Walk in
Wangsa Maju lies Restoran Patatimo, a Malay restaurant that focuses on
Kelantanese cuisine. While Kelantanese cuisine hasn’t fully hit it’s full
potential here in the Klang Valley, restaurants such as Restoran Patatimo are
the ones spreaheading the scene in Kuala Lumpur, and have been doing so for
many years.
As the name would suggest, there
are a wide variety of dishes to enjoy here that originate from the east coast
of Peninsula Malaysia. Some of these include sup tulang, Kelantanese style
chicken soup, laksa, fried rice, keropok, fried items that include fish, chicken,
and a few others; all of which go great with a hot plate of rice. While all
these options are available, the hot favourite here that’s glaringly
Kelantanese is most certainly the nasi kerabu as well as the nasi dagang. The
nasi kerabu served here has all the necessary components to deliver a great
plate of this Kelantanese delicacy, including it’s trademark of mound of blue
rice, which obtains it’s colour from the buds of the butterfly-pea flower
(kembang telang), while also giving it it’s distinct aroma. Then there are the
other equally important ingredients such as chopped long beans, cabbage,
coconut sambal, and keropok which make up the rest of the dish. To mix things
up slightly, a few Thai dishes can also be found at Restoran Patatimo such as
Pad Thai, Som Tham, and mango sticky rice.
So if you’re looking to enjoy
some great Kelantanese food, don’t hesitate and head over to Restoran Patatimo.
