If you are at Ipoh for breakfast or lunch, you would definitely want to make your way to Restoran Sin Lean Lee. Placed at the junction of Jalan Bandar Timah and Jalan Panglima, this refurnished coffee shop still attracts many patrons to its place for some of the renowned dishes that are only served within their premises.
One of their specialties include the ‘Kam Char Fun’ or translated as Golden Fried Kuey Teow, which is very much the star of this coffee shop. It is tasty Kuey Teow cooked to an appetizing dark brown with a handful of cockles and bean sprouts plus two shrimps. It does not end there because wonder why the dish is ‘golden’? This is represented by the beautifully-fried omelette neatly placed on the very top instead of scrambled together with the Kuey Teow; at times oozing delicious yolk coating the noodles.
The next well-known dish is their beef noodles where the meat is just as tender and juicy as it enters your mouth. Served in freshly boiled soup together with other kinds of meat balls and topped with coriander. Such combination in only one dish is unavoidable for your taste buds.
For a more simple breakfast or brunch, you can call for the Half-Boiled Eggs on Toast and Glutinous Rice with Kaya, often taken with their Ipoh White Coffee. They would not be too filling nor too little so you can allow yourself to try out more local food from the other hawkers like their Chee Cheong Fan, Curry Mee or the ‘liew fun’ (fish ball noodles).
