Back in the early 80's, there was a briyani rice stall located along Lorong Bandar 13 that attracted many customers and became one of the best-kept secrets of Kuala Lumpur. As time went on, this stall would attract so many customers that it would become a chore to find parking, and line up, and have to deal with the stuffiness and lack of hygiene to get to their plate of spicy and aromatic goodness on a plate.
Come 2013, and this stall has opened up as a full-fledged restaurant in Jalan Hang Kasturi, known to all as Restoran Tajudin Nasi Beriani. Now with a cleaner and wider space, this establishment now has a fresh coat of paint applied to it.
However, their menu remains unchanged by all this, which are all based on recipes the owner obtained from his father from Tamil Nadu, India. One item that has enamoured regulars and newcomers alike for almost 3 decades, is the nasi briyani with fried chicken. While not nearly as high profile, it is still important to take note of the other delicious offerings at Mr. Tajudin's establishment, be it chicken curry, squid, lamb, eggs, quail and sambals.
Not forgetting, the also serve Malaysian delights like murtabak and roti canai that goes really well with the repertoire of curries and sides available.
All in all, Restoran Tajudin has proven for 3 decades that they are the premier destination for briyani rice in Kuala Lumpur, which has led to their immense growth in this time frame. For this reason and many others, you should not miss out on trying out this place if you really like a good plate of briyani rice.
