Nestled in Ping Hooi Café located in Carnarvan Street, the old coffee shop remained its furnishing from way back in the days. The business has been passed down for three generations, so you can imagine how long this place has been around. Currently running the business is the grandson of the founder which not only inherited the Char Koay Teow recipe from his grandfather but also tried to innovate it.
A simple plate of flat noodles stir fried with airy, fluffy eggs and a handful of chives and sprouts to give the dish a refreshing crunch. You can have your Char Koay Teow stir-fried with chicken eggs or have it the Penang way and have yours with duck eggs. Chip in a little more to have extra juicy plump fresh prawns that are definitely worth it. Don’t be satisfied just yet, head over to the stall next door and get yourself a plate of Lobak which is also highly recommended by locals.
Now that you found out
about this place, definitely add it into your list of must eats for your next
trip to Penang.
