Hidden inside a tourist attraction,
Tropical Spice Garden is the Thai restaurant called Tree Monkey. As you might
have guessed, the name comes from the monkeys that swing on trees around the
area. Getting to this restaurant may not be as easy. Most actually stumble into
this piece of gem while checking out the 500 flora species in three different
garden trails that is Tropical Spice Garden. However, the entryway to this
establishment is near to the entrance so one doesn’t have to work-out too much
just to get here.
Tree Monkey overlooks the Batu Ferringhi
beach, complete with the sounds of wave crushing and the cool sea breeze. But
when the lights starts to go down, that’s when this restaurant is worth all the
hardship and mosquito bites to be able to witness the sun setting on the edge
of the water. Being a restaurant that is surrounded by nature in a tropical
weather, mosquitoes are a sure thing. You could choose to bring your own repellent
though the restaurant also provides customers with something that could ward
off the bloodsuckers.
Killer views, surrounded by nature, the thing that could make this even better are the array of good Thai foods by Tree Monkey. Of course in any Thai restaurant there would be tom yam, and Tree Monkey’s served theirs fragrant and rich in tropical flavours that can be eaten with Nasi Kunyit.
Other menu items also share the spotlight like the Pineapple Fried Rice, and the Pandan Chicken. The Pineapple Fried Rice is served in a pineapple shell that gives that much more originality to the dish, and the fried chicken wrapped in pandan is not only rich in taste but also fragrant from the leaves. Other notable mentions include the Pad Thai, Thap Thim Krop, and fresh seafood cooked in various styles.
