For almost 4 decades, Tunas Nasi Kandar has been a prominent culinary fixture along Jalan Paya Terubong. One of the distinctions of this Nasi Kandar restaurant compared to the slew of other Nasi Kandar shops in the state of Penang is the fact this particular restaurant is the official home for the Manchester United (MU) supporters in Penang. All of this came about from having an owner (named Abdul Halim M Varesah Mohammed) and staff members who were massive MU fans. Having an understanding of the fact that MU fans come from all walks of life, and how loyal and passionate they can be towards the team, the restaurant was a great idea to gather all of them so that they could enjoy the games.
While the sign suggests that Nasi Kandar is the specialty, regulars stick around more for other items such as the roti John and fried Maggi noodles.
