If you have been to Petaling Jaya area, mainly SS2 area or you’re actually living nearby, you may be aware of two night market that are held in the area. With one located at SS2 Chow Yang on Thursdays, this one, on the other hand, is situated right around the SS2 food court, and it is most certainly the place to be in the evenings as tons of people flood the roads of SS2/6 on a foodie mission. The night market is considered the biggest night market in Petaling Jaya area as its length spans the entire round of the SS2 commercial centre, going around the block making a big round, surrounding the food court and car park lot.
The night market mostly showcases local Chinese dishes like yong tau foo, pau, carrot cake, fried oysters, dim sum and much more. That said, the Malay dishes served here are just as prominent as seen by the massive crowd found at the steamed nasi lemak stall, the otak-otak stall, and the asam laksa stall.
There are also just as many stalls to choose from if you’re a sweet tooth such as uncle Soon’s apam balik, Cupido macaron ice cream, the kuih bahalu stall, Maltese candy, and soft creme ice cream to name a few. All of this food can be washed down with just as many options. The standout ones include Chinese herbal teas and the fresh fruit juices.
In short, there’s more than enough evidence to suggest that SS2 night market is worth the trip. While the overwhelming crowds and parking difficulties can be a deterrent, this shouldn’t bother you too much if you’re looking to dig into some great food.
