Though renowned for their unusual cheese bak kut teh, B.A.J Cafe’s line up features a variety of very reasonably priced and good food!
Started in February 2018, the Cafe is undoubtedly the most popular amongst students due to the cheap pricing and comfortable cafe environment!
The most shocking factor however will definitely be the staggering price tag that comes with some mains! With a minimum price of RM3.90 to RM5.90 on their special menu that ranges from local delicacies to western. It was definitely the defining factor for this cosy little cafe!
Without further ado, let’s jump into the food! B.A.J Cafe mostly specializes in local cuisine for their signatures! First up was their authentic penang Asam Laksa! This Laksa is undeniably a penang special with it’s savory sweet and sour soup! Packed with bunch of vegetables and fish, this dish truly hits home for penangites!
Another local favorite, this laksa is as classic as it can get! For those that enjoy their soup thick, B.A.J Cafe might just be the place for you as they serve abundantly! Topped with generous chunks of fried tofu skin, this curry laksa is the perfect hearty dish to have on a chilly day!
On the other hand, for those that can’t live without rice should definitely give this Taiwan Pork Rice a try! Fluffy rice served with a plentiful of minced pork and topped with an egg, this Taiwan Pork Rice is taking you back to its roots!
A classic local dish, this Curry Chicken Rice will amaze you with its simplicity! With generous chunks of potato and chicken coated with curry sauce, this dish is inevitably a true classic!
Now for the star of the show, Cheese Bak Kut Teh! With 4 types different cheeses melted on top of the dried Bak Kut Teh, this seemingly odd combination does not taste so odd after all! The cheese goes very well with the bak kut teh that I had to declare that dried bak kut teh does taste better with cheese! B.A.J Cafe also serves soup Bak Kut Teh that everyone loves too and nothing can really go wrong with a classic.
Last but not least, B.A.J cafe is also famous for their Salted Egg Chicken Chop! Diving into the public’s obsession with everything salted egg, this ultra crispy chicken chop paired with the salted egg sauce is the ultimate combination!
