Char Kuey Teow @ Pudu Wai Sek Kai City Centre

Sometimes in life, you have to let go of that line you set yourself to not eat unhealthy food as places like this do not actually qualify as “healthy”. Hawker centres especially outdoor ones are infamous for their hygiene practices and sometimes not very pleasing seating conditions – next to drains, trash etc. But, people do not come here and expect the cleanest place in the world, instead, good tasting food.

Situated off Jalan Pudu, along Jalan Sayur, this street is one of those places to get famous and delicious street food. With many hawker foods in existence today, not as many have heritage and tradition. Classic and homemade recipes exists along this street and have been for a long time.

If you plan on visiting this street, do bring along friends or family members as the place becomes a very cosy and classic hang out place for the night. Chit chats can go on till late at night with the usually busy streets, toned down at that time. The system here is simple, like similar places, you order your food then grab a seat or the other way around, in the meantime you get your drinks and wait for your highly anticipated meal to arrive.

A wide variety of different dishes exists here. Among them includes the quite popular Sarawak Kolo Mee. Also, char kuey teow is not to be missed out here, along with the fried carrot cake, which is best enjoyed with a good bowl of piping hot porridge.
