Fatty Loong is the man behind this successful venture of ice kacang – or shaved ice – that has been a crowd-pleaser for a quite some time now. Apparently the place is also known as Fei Zai Long Ais Kacang, but whatever name you would choose on the taste of the ice kacang would be indifferent and will not budge a single step from being a good one. Proclaimed as the best ice kacang in Kepong area, patrons seem to dig this place for its non-typical shaven ice that is usually course in material but instead it is softly shaved, similar to somewhat of Sahara desert’s sand. This classic local dessert that is loved by any south-east Asians is filled with red beans, creamed-corn, strips of cendol, peanuts, cincau, nata de coco, syrup and occasionally a scoop of ice cream topping everything off. But get this; Fatty Long’s syrup is what sets it an exception among others. Using thick gula Melaka syrup, the sweetness boosts every part of your palette and gives off a much authentic sweetness as compared to the colourful red, green, and brown commercial syrup many ice kacang vendor uses these days.
The condiments that are usually found beneath the mountain of ice shaving are of generous amount given by the Fatty Long man himself, considering the price it was set on is definitely more than worth it. Where this magnificent ice shaving rests, the stall is always filled with patrons especially at night however fret not, seats are always available from time to time to cater more desserts-lovers to come in.
