In Penang, the dining scene doesn’t seem to slow down throughout the years. Restaurants and cafés are mushrooming everywhere and that is not a bad thing at all. In 2011, Il Bacaro became one of the latest addition to the F&B scene in Campbell Street area. The eatery is an in-house Italian restaurant of the Campbell House boutique residence. The place pride itself for being one of the best authentic Italian specialist in the UNESCO heritage site, Georgetown Penang.
Walking into the
beautiful space will instantly astonish you. The brown-themed restaurant has a
cosy and warm ambience to it with beautiful dark furniture along with some
vintage-looking walls. If you are lucky, you can get a seat at a table by
the French window overlooking Chulia Street. The place is always packed during
weekends with ‘minglers’ who loves to make new friends or meeting old
acquaintances. The best part about it? You will never know who you are going to
bump into.
Delicacies like calamari,
risotto spicy rice balls, gnocchi, salads, and pizza, are among the bestselling
menu items of this restaurant. Everybody loves their pizza which is made of a
simple thin crust with tomato and mozzarella splashed on top. Purely delicious in
the simplest way. Another crowds’ favourite is the Lamb Ravioli. The ravioli is
handmade and filled with flavourful braised lamb and then served with sweet
pumpkin puree and red wine sauce. The red and white wine of Cronier Wines, and
the Tiger beer of GAB, really gives a great contrast to the Italian-themed cuisine.
Be sure to end your meal on a sweet note with their popular dessert, PannaCotta.
So if you are looking
for sparkling new friends, great food, and good drinks over the weekend, Il
Bacaro is the place to go.
