Located right in the middle of Campbell Street and directly next to Moustache Houze, Sugar Honey is another humble café that you can check out when you are in Penang. With a warm ambience and a spacious yet cozy interior, this place is suitable for customers of all ages who might love a quiet spot for drinks and dessert. Based on the signage, one would expect another common café but stepping into the place, the whole concept of their décor is modernized but yet maintaining a hint of heritage within the old house structure.
The walls are beautifully decorated with starfish-shaped seashells and a couple of antique landscape photos. Just in front of the walkway has a stretch of tables lined up which displays trinkets and merchandise. The colour scheme of the place has a kind of warmth to it and the lights does not really make it a tat too bright. You can dine under a string of classic-looking hand lanterns or sit on a chair made out of a wheel. The tables have little potted plants and vintage tin cups to contain order chits.
A neatly
hand-written menu offered is inclusive of appetizers and main courses; or some
snacks suited for each need. Nevertheless, this café’s main focus is on the
sweet tastings offered. The signature dessert are delightfully baked waffles.
Arranged neatly behind the glass in the fridge, the cakes have a way of speaking to you till you cannot resist the temptation in ordering one to take an Instagram photo of. Desserts here are mainly served on minimalist white plates decorated with drawings made out of chocolate syrup.
For drinks wise, that includes the Banana Mocha and Iced Calpis Strawberry. With the latest additional item on the menu- the rainbow latte, it has since boost the amount of visitors to the adorable place. With comfy cushions and smiles all around, you would definitely feel at home and not want to leave!
