Bert’s Garden Seafood has been around since 1994 at
Tanjung Kling in Melaka. Known as one of the best seafood restaurants in all of
Melaka, its location that is a little outside of the main city does not stop
people from visiting and enjoying all things Bert’s has to offer. The
restaurant is situated beside the sea so customers could enjoy spectacular
views of the sun setting. The restaurant covers quite a large space that allows
them to set up different kind of dining setting. The garden seating is accompanied
with calming music that sets up the mood. There are a number of huts around
that patrons could choose to occupy to enjoy the localised private feel.
Of course being a seafood restaurant the main star here
is the seafood. Expect to see premium items like giant prawns, crabs and
lobsters, all fresh and ready to be served in Bert’s signature styles. The
giant prawns are best when grilled and cooked with butter and garlic, while the
signature crabs are the ones cooked with black pepper or shrimp paste with
curry leaf (Kam Heong). The seafood may receive the most spotlight but the
fishes don’t lose out in the competition. The grilled red snapper or sea bass are
some of the recommended dishes by the chef. Served on banana leaves and topped
with Bert’s homemade sambal, clearly that’s the best way to enjoy a good ‘ol ‘ikanbakar’.
Bert’s Garden Seafood serves more than just grilled
items. They also have an extensive menu of various dishes from western to
local, to even Japanese, thus catering to as many taste buds as possible. Some
other notable mentions include the Nasi Lemak, the Curry Fish or Chicken, and
the Roast Spring Chicken.
