Nestled upon a corner-lot of Ipoh's old town, just a stone's throw away from the famous Concubine Lane, Thean Chun Coffee Shop and also Kong Heng, Kedai Kopi Nam Chau brings forth a Chinese noodle fare like no other.

Despite its less flamboyant outlook for a storefront, the food joint does more than just compensate for its lack of exterior aesthetics with cooking unrivalled by any other. Here in Nam Chau, their best seller comes in the form of dry curry noodles in which locals and tourists alike who have tried this beforehand would wholeheartedly agree that this is THE best dry curry noodles in town. With a selection of different kinds of noodles -flat rice noodles, yellow noodles, beehoon, just to name a few; the noodles are lathered with copious amounts of thick curry gravy in which a rather distinct smell of spice would waft from. Mind you, this curry is not for the fainthearted. Garnished with a topping of either succulent Char Siew slices or tender shredded chicken along with plump juicy shrimps and coriander, the resulting dish is a masterpiece to behold. For adding zing, patrons can opt to drizzle lime juice all over the curry noodles.

If by chance you wish to have something on the soupier side, fret not for Nam Chau accommodates patrons with a soupy variant of the curry noodles as well as a variant with clear, non-spicy broth. Lam Mee is also another alternative one can opt for while side dishes in the form of crunchy blanched sprouts proved to be quite a complementary dish.

Not forgetting Nam Chau's rendition of bread toast served with poached eggs and white coffee -which exudes a smokey aroma found no where else in Ipoh; this place is the real deal when it come to hearty breakfast and lunch fare in Ipoh's old town.
