Located next to Shell Petrol
Station of USJ 2 and opposite The Summit mall in USJ 1, Subang Jaya is Kedai
Makanan & Minuman USJ 2; a Chinese restaurant and coffee shop that houses
numerous stalls. The restaurant has been around for many years now, and still
enjoy a healthy crowd to this day thanks to a number of the stalls that the
restaurant houses.
The majority of the stalls here
are what most people would expect to find in most of the other restaurants of
this nature such as wantan mee, char kway teow, economy rice, char kuey teow,
and a pastry stall among a few others. The reality is, the majority of the
customers here are fixated and to dig into the standout stall in the
restaurant, named Fushou Lou Nyonya Laksa (which translates to “Moustache Man”
and named as a nod to the owner’s appearance). The laksa and curry mee served
from this stall stands out from the other bowls of these local classics in a
number of ways. One of which is the fact that the soup is a little lighter,
allowing for the sour and spicy flavours to be more prominent. Besides this, the
bowl can feature a few familiar ingredients such as roasted and barbecued pork
pieces, bean curd puffs, prawns, cockles, as well as more unique and exotic
ingredients like stingray and tiger prawns.
So if you’re looking for a great
bowl of laksa, curry mee, or any other hawker stall dish in USJ for that
matter, Kedai Makanan & Minuman USJ 2 is a great choice.
