Cendol has been around for a long time and stood tall as a popular dessert across Southeast Asia. The earliest recorded mention of the word cendol is in a Malay document back in 1932 and the history of Penang Road Famous Teochew Chendul dated back just as far.
The menu here stay as humble as their beginnings, with only 3 kinds of cendol to choose from; Original, Durian and White Coffee. Each of their cendol consists of shaved ice and fresh green cendol flour noodles, doused over with light coconut milk, palm sugar and kidney beans; with extra addition of durian and white coffee flavour for the other two cendol types. Penang Road also offers a twist for those who wished to enjoy cendol flavour in a modern way with the Chendul Ice Blended.
For a business that has been going on for nearly a century, Penang Road has kept its recipe, its dignity and its history. Slowly growing from a roadside cendol stall, to offering more food variety to now a multi-branch establishment, it is the definition of perseverance and consistency. Penang Road Famous Teochew Chendul also serves good and authentic Asam Laksa, Penang Curry Noodles and Teochew Rojak, some with slight contemporary modification.
