Citizens of Selangor rejoice! For now, we have yet another culinary delight hailing from the northern side of Malaysia made available at our own backyard, particularly if you are staying in the vicinity of Old Klang Road. As its name aptly suggests, Restoran Hock Kee Ulu Yam Loh Mee in Taman OUG serves Loh Mee, a noodle dish where they make use of yellow flat noodles drenched in thick, starchy gravy. A dish quite well received in the northern regions of Malaysia, one can hardly find a place selling good Loh Mee here in Selangor but with the existence of Hock Kee, that problem is no longer valid.
In terms of a good Loh Mee, much of it is derived from its soup. For Hock Kee's Ulu Yam Loh Mee, the soup is made out of corn starch, an assortment of spices as well as egg, a key ingredient in ensuring smoother consistency. Savory to the palate, the dish is accompanied by a myriad of condiments: a half of a boiled egg, fish cakes, meat slices (available in pork or poultry), just to name a few.
However, if Loh Mee is not to your taste, and you wish to opt for a more familiar dish, fret not, as Hock Kee caters to other culinary delights as well. Fried beehoon and Char Kuey Teow are both exemplary examples of the noodle dishes they serve here in Hock Kee.
Aside from that, the restaurant also dabbles in Chinese stir-fry, hence patrons can order their favourite Chinese dishes while slurping down their bowl of hearty Loh Mee.
