Restoran K.T.Z Food is nestled in the bustling area of SS2. As one of
the longest surviving eatery there, ‘K.T.Z’ actually stands for ‘kei tuck sek’
in Catonese, which means ‘remember to eat’. Well, this place will definitely
not be forgotten anytime soon as patrons are flocking there in crowds. Consider
yourself lucky if you get an immediate spot inside but more often than not you
might have to be seated outside at the veranda or stand waiting for your turn.
The interior of the restaurant is air-conditioned with a simple and cosy layout. Oriental lamps reminiscence of the China 1940s era are hung all over the celling. Customers often frequent the place for supper as the shop is open till 1am. Do note that their bestsellers usually run out by around 9pm, though. Restoran K.T.Z Food serves both hot and cold Tong Sui, finger food and also main courses.
Their Mango Lolo is a must try. Consisting of mango sauce,
sago and chunks of mango adorning a heap of shaved ice, it is pleasantly sweet
and refreshing. The quality of the mangoes used is wonderful as it is soft and
sweet without being too mushy. You should also sample their Black Sesame Soup
which is a flawless blend of black sesame seed, long grained rice and rock
sugar. The fine bits of sesame which is grinded to perfection melts in your
mouth.
If you are hungry, they also serve delectable snacks such as
Turnip Cake and Steamed Yam Cake. Main dishes such as Shrimp Chee Cheong Fun
and Char Siew Fried Rice is also available.
