Ever wonder how some restaurants or café remained hidden from us even with the power of Google? How is it possible that these establishment can go beneath the shadows of technology? After all, it would be pretty sad to see good restaurants or café go unattended or ignored simply because they’re located at some of the most horrible location.
D’Lee Deli Café is one of those café that fit within the criteria of unnoticed and partially ignored. Simply because it is located beneath several apartment units. However, despite their hidden location, the area itself, consisting of several restaurants, 2 of which belong to owner of D’Lee Deli Café were pretty well received at night.
Available in both indoors and outdoors, D’Lee Deli Café is finished with a raw and rustic look with a warm and cozy ambiance. On one side of the wall, it features their quote of the month and several hung posters. Apart from that, the entire café itself is decorated in such a manner of exposed bricks, posters and props. Even the tables and chairs are pretty rustic.
Now you may be wondering, what exactly do they serve? Are they like most of the cafes available currently in the Klang Valley? Well not exactly. D’Lee Deli Café focuses more on their fresh and made-to-order sandwiches. However, cakes, waffle, big breakfast are some of the additional items available aside from the fundamental sandwiches.
Their sandwiches comes in various choices – from Chicken Pesto to Soft Shell Crab with Wasabi and many more. Despite most of them having funky ingredients or unique combination, one of our utmost favourites would be the Creamy Mushroom & Ham. It was simple, straight-forwarded, well-seasoned and absolutely delicious. The creaminess was just right to maintain its consistency on the sandwich without dripping out uncontrollably – which was delightful.
Another sandwich which we really enjoyed was the Chicken Pesto sandwich. Filled with delicious homemade pesto sauce that was perfectly seasoned and coated nicely onto the strips of chicken beneath. The pesto itself added quite a dimension of flavour to a once boring sandwich. Similarly, the chicken pesto lays on a bed of fresh lettuce and slices of tomato and finished with a fluffy and crisp bread. Overall, despite the simplicity of ingredients, they all worked in harmony to bring out the best of each element. Each serving of sandwich also comes with a side of sautéed potato, which is nice if you’re a heavy eater.
For those who indulge themselves with waffles occasionally, or repeatedly. You’ll be pleased to find that D’Lee Deli Café offers a wide range of personalized waffles. It comes in an option of regular or chocolate batter as the base for the waffles. Toppings include blueberry, strawberry, Oreos, banana etc and sauces includes dark chocolate, milk chocolate, white chocolate, butterscotch, caramel etc. All of which is finished with a soft served vanilla ice cream. Now that is what we call a true indulgence. Not to mention, the price itself is very reasonable as well.
Last but not least, we would also like to feature two of their very special dessert called the Blondie and Apple Crumble. Both of which were really unique when we tried it. The blondie itself is a reflection of a chocolate brownie. Instead of using dark or milk chocolate, a Blondie is constructed with white chocolate. It was a little sweeter than a normal brownie but the depth of flavours were simply amazing. The Apple Crumble too, was packed with essence of apple which is certainly rare these days. Most of the Apple Crumble available is either bland or overdone. This on the other hand, was just perfect. Good flavour, amazing texture and definitely comes with a recommendation.
Apart from all their food, D’Lee Deli Café is also the sole distributer of a craft cider called Kopparberg. It comes in a variety of different flavours to suit your taste. Though the alcoholic content is only 4.5%, the taste itself is slightly stronger than most available commercial cider. Kopparberg has an interesting mix of flavour, hence it was really fun trying them out. One other drink that we believe was pretty good is their Taro Latte. Pretty much means Sweet Potato Latte. It had a really rich and creamy taste and packed with the scent of sweet potato. Truly lovely for those who enjoy their drink slightly milkier.
In conclusion, D’Lee Deli Café has accomplish the necessary requirement as a deli. They offer fresh, healthy and really delicious made-to-order sandwiches, which is the core idea of a deli. Additional items such as cakes, desserts, waffles, big breakfast too were added bonuses to the café.
