While being vegetarian is surely becoming the choice for healthier lifestyle, Malaysia is still very much holding on to its meat. That being said, the number of vegetarian restaurants are growing to new heights as it is no longer only to cater to the religious, but also those who have adapted to such culture. Nature’s Vegetarian Restaurant, located at SS14 in Petaling Jaya, is no newbie in the business of providing an equally tasty alternative to vegetarians or vegans all around. The restaurant was done simply to provide just enough comfort to their patrons. However, the same thing cannot be said for their food.
Some are fortunate to have picked up the vegetarian culture from a young age, where it is easier to absorb, but some decided to go green later in life due to personal reasons. Nature’s Vegetarian knows that some people who commit to this lifestyle later in life might face some longing for the food that they’ve grown up with. Thus, the restaurant offers a menu that would cater to those people as well as offering a sense of familiarity to the people who become vegetarian temporarily for religious reasons.
The
menu has names of the usual fare that one can find at any restaurant only that
the meat aspect has been replaced by vegetarian friendly items. Such things
like Curry Mutton looks like curry mutton, taste like curry but the mutton
pieces are not meat. The vegetarian meat industry is creative enough to come up
with the solution of ‘mock meats’ made from plant sources that tasted like the
meat they represent. The Shark Fin with Crab Meat is another of the many options
that undergo the same changes. Other notable mentions include Roast Duck, Fried
Fish with Soy Sauce, and Sweet and Sour Pork.
