Today, Bangsar has become one of the popular dining out places among those living in KL. Despite having a lot of classy eateries and concept cafes, this one eating spot came a long way from since back then in 1974. Since the 70’s, this family run and owned restaurant has been serving great food for those living in the neighborhood and now beyond. The interior of the place is furnished with sufficient wooden square tables. Not being air-conditioned, the ceiling fans do the job pretty well but during selective days it could still be quite humid.
The most popular dish in this neighborhood coffee shop will be non-other than Rocky Restaurant’s very own Rocky Prawn Mee. Under the spicy yet refreshing broth are a generous portion of vermicelli and yellow noodles cooked just right and topped with a whole egg sliced into two, chicken floss, some chives and fried onions as well as a handful of prawn meat. Coming in close to the Prawn Mee is the Char Kuey Teow which flavour and texture is favoured by many. The soft yet chewy flat noodles fried with beansprout, eggs and shrimps add a refreshing aftertaste to the greasy dish.
The all-time Malaysian favourite breakfast item is also something people come here for. Yes, Nasi Lemak. Though not the traditional Malay Nasi Lemak, the one here is more of a Chinese version which offers a variety of side dishes to go with. If you’re still not impressed, other alternative options would be Minced Pork Noodles, Mixed Rice and Toast with Egg.
Operating only for breakfast and lunch, Rocky Restaurant has been the ultimate breakfast spot for those who live in Bangsar long before concept cafes even existed. Parking could be quite a hassle but nothing should stop you from good food right?
