Located in Bangsar Utama “Chez Gaston” is a traditional French restaurant and bar located just a few minutes from the busty Telawi streets and one minute from the Bangsar LRT station.
The bistro’s concept is to provide authentic and affordable French cuisine while offering a laid-back atmosphere in which to truly relax and enjoy great food and drinks with family and friends. The bistro is managed by Chef Florian Nigen whose family ran a well-known restaurant in France for 30 years. He puts all he has learnt plus with passion and experience into preparing the wide selection French dishes along with delicious French desserts.
On the menu are popular French dishes and beverages that will definitely build an appetite for you while you look through the menu. From salads to starters to gourmet main dishes, sweet tasting dessert and drinks, everything you want in a meal can be found in the menu.
For salad, you should totally try the Smoked duck and Brie salad, it comes in two sizes which are small (RM19) and X-tra Large (RM28) . It's melted brie on baguette, seasoned with coarse black peppers and honey, served with a generous amount of green salad, walnuts, French dressing and very delicious air-dried duck breast.
If you're not a fan of salads, you can jump straight into the starters or known to many appetizers. If you're a seafood lover, their Baked Mussels (RM18) is a must have! Baked with garlic and seasoned to perfection with herbs.
Small Mix Platter (RM41) is a combination of parma cured ham, saucisson, country style pate, chicken pate, smoked duck breast, salad, gherkin and caramelized onions. This dish is just wonderful and perfect to have along with a good conversation with your friends or family!
Cheese lovers where you at? This next platter is designed just for you! A chef's selection of four (4) cheeses, arranged beautiful on a wooden board. And this ain't your usual off the fridge supermarket cheese, it's a authentic selection of French cheeses. The Cheese Platter (RM38) consist of goat’s cheese, blue cheese, brie and a semi hard chees e. Some of the cheese may have a taste that's too strong for non-cheese lovers, but it's worth the try.
Moving on to the main dishes, the Prawn Moscato (RM48) is pan-fried prawns with a Moscato bisque sauce. The sauce gives you a smooth, creamy and highly seasoned flavor that brings your taste buds to live and mixed with green peas and long beans, which are good for you!
Beef bourguignon (RM48) is a beef stew braised in red wine, often red Burgundy, and beef broth, generally flavoured with carrots, onions, garlic, and a bouquet garni, and garnished with pearl onions, mushrooms, and bacon. It is cooked in a slow cooker for a 8 hours that makes the meat tender and very juicy.
Dessert time!! If you're a fan of chocolate be it dark or milk chocolate, you should and must try the Chocolate Mousse (RM12) . It's perfection in a cup, super smooth chocolate that melts on your tongue and brings joy to your heart in just one bite.
A Floating I sland (RM11) is a dessert of French origin, consisting of meringue floating on crème anglaise. The meringues are prepared from whipped egg whites, sugar and vanilla extract then quickly poached. The crème anglaise is prepared with the egg yolks, vanilla, and hot milk, briefly cooked. It's a dessert that is very soft and super tasty.
Need something to quench your thirst? Give their Ice Lemon Tea (RM11) a try. Best part about this drink is that you can add your own sugar according to how sweet you want it to be, and this doesn't taste like the normal canned ice lemon tea that you get from those supermarket.
