Best Katsu Don in PJ

Hokano Japanese Restaurant is what most people would consider a neighbourhood Japanese Restaurant. The style and concept of the place is fairly straight-forward - affordable and healthy, delicious Japanese food for the mass. As such, they offer a wide range of traditional Japanese delights that you definitely would enjoy. The katsu don, though not the most popular choice, is pretty good. Fluffy rice served with crispy pork cutlet and lovely eggs! 

Located in Taman Paramount, Shokudo Japanese Curry Rice is considered as one of the prettiest Japanese-like cafe here in Malaysia. From the outside, a simple white signage with black fonts are used while on the inside, the tradition lives on. The menu is pretty limited, but you can tell that everything is made with love and passion. Similarly, the katsu curry don comes with fluffy Japanese rice cooked to perfection, as well as perfectly fried, crispy pork cutlets and a generous amount of Japanese sweet curry. It's seasoned beautifully as well as presented in a homy manner - lovely!

In a fairly large franchise like Sushi Tei, you can well expect several types of katsu don. From salmon to prawns, and beef to chicken, they have it all. Depending on what you like, each bowl of katsu don has its own unique flavour and texture. One of the best selling is the beef katsu; perfectly fried and served with eggs, rice and sauteed onion. Flavour is good, price is fair but service may be a tad bit slow.

Kissaten is located in Jaya One, and is a fusion of Japanese and western cuisine. Stuffs like burger, pizzas and tortilla wrap are fairly common here, where the idea of eating is drawn from the western side of the world, while the ingredients remain Japanese. For a more traditional twist, the katsu don is done quite nicely. Pork cutlets are fried till crispy perfection and served on top of fluffy Japanese rice and eggs. It's simple, but ultimately delicious.

Nihonkai Japanese Restaurant has been around for a really long time. With a legacy of serving fresh and healthy Japanese cuisine, Nihonkai has been well received by the public. Amongst many of their signature dish, the katsu don too deserves a shoutout. Perfectly crispy, fried pork cutlet served alongside airy fried scrambled eggs, caramelized onions and fluffy Japanese rice. It may not be the fanciest of meal, but it is delicious and addictive.
