Once you step inside this arguably KL’s most beautiful cafe, you would want to prepare your camera and snap every inch of your experience at Merchant’s Lane. Way before this historic building was restored by owners of Merchant’s Lane, there used to be a brothel. The rustic windows, railings and walls are retained to complement the groovy 1960s-style décor and mismatched retro furniture as well as bright coloured decorations to add contrast and create an atmospheric old world charm.
The café is divided into three sections for customers to dine in, the front which is the main dining area, the middle is the al fresco area and the lounge area situated at the back and is further decorated with emerald green plants and vibrant flowers. Customers would appreciate a breath of fresh air, plenty of natural light for snapping photos, cosy ambience and of course, the unique food and drinks at Merchant’s Lane.
For big breakfast lovers can opt for Eat Die Me, a customisable serving of sunny side-up, scrambled or poached eggs with two beef, lamb or chicken sausages along with toast with a serving of creamed corn, sautéed mushrooms and house-made hash. Other dishes available are Breakie Muesli Bowl, Merchant’s Waffle, Hongkie Beef Stew, The Taukay and their own special version of fish and chips, Hashtag Salmon.
Aside savoury dishes, Merchant’s Lane has also prepared unique desserts for customers with a sweet tooth such as Better Than Sex with an epitome of local taste features pandan roti jala topped with melted mozzarella cheese served along with creamy kaya toast ice cream and drizzled with melted gula Melaka. You can also make your way to their selection of available cakes such as Orange Poppy cake.
What else can you pair along with these dishes? Drinks, of course! An extensive list of drinks from black and white coffee, chocolate, teas and others such as Merchant’s Lane signature Rose Honey Milk, a honey sweetened milk infused with the aroma of rose petals.
Merchant’s Lane can be quite a challenge to find in the Petaling streets so be extra attentive and observant and you will reach there in no time.
