Pulp By Papa Palheta
Located on a street populated by New Straits Times Press and China Press buildings in the nearby area, Pulp café is considered a hidden gem within the Bangsar location. Upon entering the premise, the café is surrounded by a massive glass wall all around (which also translates as: good enough for those who love to take photos of their favourite food since one doesn’t have to worry about the lack of lighting). In case you are wondering about the industrial-like setup in this café, it used to be an old printing company. At the front entrance, there’s a white-coloured tagline against the glass wall that reads “A City That Deserves Great Coffee”. True to their promise, their coffee range is top notch. But most of all, they also offer creative types of coffee such as Suke Quto (a medium-bodied coffee which has an aromatic hint of citrus and candy-like sweetness) and Nuts + Bolts (a fruity and nutty-rich coffee). Then there’s Cold Brew in a cough syrup-like bottle, a refreshing coffee best consumed with ice and also an ideal drink to counter against the frequently hot weather in KL.

Leaf & Co
Leaf & Co Cafe, which shares the same premise at Mingle Hotel, is another stunning place where one can enjoy delicious food and coffee. Interiorly, this place is really rustic and old-fashioned, but somehow has that element of contemporary design. The slight pop in colours from the chairs, the use of light and the strokes of aluminium all contributed to the design of the place. As for the food, it's back to basics with a bit of twist. The Malaysian Spaghetti is similar to what Mee Goreng Mamak, where the dish is tossed in gravy and served with chunks of chicken. Overall, a simple place that you should totally check out.

Le Lapin Café
Do you like rabbits? Then you should check out Le Lapin Café, which is situated in the residential area of Taman Danau Desa. The word “lapin” is actually a French word, which means “rabbit” in English. Here, you will experience nice and simple décor (mostly black-and-white colour scheme) filled with rabbit art on the wall as well as a cute display of rabbit figurines. The only thing missing is a real rabbit for you to pet, or maybe an employee dressed up in a white bunny costume. Despite the obvious love for bunnies in this café, don’t expect any rabbit food though. Instead, you have a selection of refreshing coffee drinks such as the Gula Melaka Iced Coffee and Le Lapin Coffee Iced Cube. If you need a coffee-based dessert, they have that too and you can’t go wrong with their Ice Cream Coffee – a flavourful blend of creamy vanilla ice cream and ice-cold coffee beverage.

Podgy & The Banker @ Sri Hartamas
The name itself feels as if it was made for a cartoon or a buddy comedy film. But the café itself is definitely not a joke. Located at the corner lot in Sri Hartamas, Podgy & The Banker looks like a cool and hip place to be. First of all, the signboard alone has that vintage retro feel of an old-fashioned standalone movie theatre often found in the US. Meanwhile, the minimalist décor may look simple but wonderful enough to give you a soothing sense for the eyes. Apart from the wood-based furniture, the overall colour choices are brilliantly utilised to make the entire café a fuss-free hangout. Best of all, it has ample space of large glass walls that allows plenty of sunlight to brighten up the place. Die-hard Instagrammers and photographers are going to have a field day snapping beautiful pictures of the food and the décor. Speaking of food, the menu is limited in choice. Still, the café remains a good spot for egg-based breakfast/brunch as well as their worthy coffee range.

This petite-sized café in Taman Connaught proves that size isn't everything. First and foremost is the barista’s passion for creating different kinds of coffee art on a cup of java beverage. Best of all, you can request the barista to draw anything – be it flowers, iconic landmarks such as KL Tower and Eiffel Tower, or cartoon characters like Mickey Mouse and Minions, making your cuppa Instagram-worthy.
