Located at 153 & 155 Beach Street and 183B Victoria Street George Town, Penang, China House has been one of the most visited and famous cafés around for many tourists and locals themselves. China House stands as a traditional compound of 3 heritage buildings connected by an open air patio and transformed into 14 spaces encompassing shops cafes, restaurants, galleries and multi-purpose performance theatre. This café has a history of its own which resides back to about 12 years ago where it first started its business in Langkawi as Bon Ton Langkawi then in 2008; Temple Tree Langkawi, to now the all famed Chinahouse in 2011.

 


The setting of China House boasts of a unique setting and infrastructure you’ll be dazzled by each of its unique structure from front to back and top to bottom. The café stems of rustic and contemporary décor and colourful interior to each shop café, restaurant, gallery or multi-purpose performance theatre. The 14 spaces include Kopi C. Espresso, BTB & Restaurant, Beach Street Bakery, Library, Vine and Single, Courtyard and The Canteen which hosts special theatre or musical performances over the weekend nights. Over 7000 slices of cakes are sold monthly and with new recipes are incorporated every day. Also, look out for their singing cat that’s sculpted by a local artist.

 


The menu here is a little tricky to begin with as different areas served different dishes however customers are able to order whatever they want and sit wherever they opt and their dishes will be served right to them. Kopi C. depicts an Australian style with breakfast all day and brunch on Sunday so give a go on their Breakfast Wrap, the Mezze Plate for lunch or the Beef Short Rib for dinner. As for BTB’s menu, it features a modern western style with an extensive blend of Asian middle eastern cuisines you don’t wanna miss. Beach St. Bakery serves an array of cakes that simply and utterly delightful. A total sweet tooth haven.
