As Malaysians, we are all aware of the

Nam Heong, the origin of old town white coffee. For the local residents, this
kopitiam will always bring back childhood memories of when their parents
brought them here for afternoon tea. Small in size, this humble restaurant can
only fit a limited number of customers at a time. So, if you want to get a
table, you might want to drop by during non-peak hours.
This eatery consists of a few food stalls
selling Chinese pastries, dim sum, Kai Si Hor Fun, and many more. Although the
food selections can be quite limited, but you will definitely find love in the dishes
provided. One of the most popular items here is the egg tarts and cha siu
pastry. Anyone that walk in the restaurant cannot resists to the buttery-smelling
pastry. It is so popular that at least 1000 tarts are sold on normal days and
double on public holidays. If you are a fan of char kuey teow, you should try
it here. Each plate is full of prawns and bean sprouts, and the seasoning is
simply delicious.
However, the dry Hakka Mee is the must-try dish at Kedai Makanan Nam Heong. You will love the chewy and springy noodles with spring onions and minced meat as toppings. Simplicity at its best! Lastly, your trip is not complete without a cup of white coffee – full of bubble-like teh Tarik, thick coffee aroma and very flavoursome! We don’t know about you, but between this original place and the chain restaurants, we’d picked Kedai Makanan Nam Heong any day.
