Restoran Wong Soon Kee is a
Chinese restaurant and coffee shop located in SS19, Subang Jaya that houses a
number of hawker stalls in the morning and afternoon, while at night it focuses
on it’s ‘Chu Char’ (Chinese stir fried dishes with rice) dishes. The restaurant
has been an all too familiar fixture in SS14 for Subang residents as the
restaurant has been around for more than 2 decades. It has been a regular haunt
for families and young professionals around SS14 ad beyond to get quick and
cheap food.
During the morning hours, the
restaurant has a well-known wantan mee stall, Chinese nasi lemak stall and char kuey teow stall that fill the restaurant almost instantly and have the stall
owners packing up after selling all their goods (also to make way for an
equally overwhelming lunch crowd). Some of these stalls are family run businesses,
especially in the case of the wantan mee stall which is currently in it’s
second generation.
The lunch crowds get a whole lot
more hectic as the economy rice here has people lining up in a crawl that can
take almost 20 minutes. The main reason behind this is undoubtedly the fried chicken served here, which can be had with a plate of white rice similar to a
plate of chicken rice, or with the various other sides to enjoy here.
In short, Restoran Wong Soon Kee
has been a part of the history of Subang Jaya for a long time due to it’s
accessibility and great food, so do head there to be a part of the whole experience.
