Gambier Burger & Western FoodCertified
halalRather a veiled out joint at Bukit Gambier yet highly vaunted for its mouthwatering mashup of burgers and Western food. Their hot dogs are among the best sellers and hands down, it’s not your regular roadside fare. After picking up some chars on the griddle, the juicy hotdog is blanked in a spongy bun, topped with shredded cabbage, cheese, sunny-side egg, grilled pineapple and drizzles of chili sauce round up the rhapsody. Each bite is worth closing your eyes and savouring the moment, the runny egg yolk just cascades and binds all the elements, a tinge of sweetness from the pineapple, crunchy greens, melting cheese and succulent hot dog are spot on.

Pos Burger
A common rule to live by for any foodie, if it’s soaring crowd, never hesitate and join the beeline. A similar scenario applies to this bustling burger joint, just a stone’s throw away from Jelutong Post Office. Their burgers and hotdogs are rather inured for typical Malaysian palate – sloppy, meaty and utterly messy, ensuring love at each bite. Nicely browned hot dog sits on a bed of shredded cabbage, carrot, potatoes, tomatoes and cucumbers, and then generously smeared with mayonnaise and chili sauce. Amiable owner and open-air dining space wrap up a pleasant meal.

I Hot Dog
Relatively a new contender to the hot dog scene, yet I Hot Dog has been stretching appetites of Penangites with a whole new dimension of toppings. The front runner from the challenging yet comforting menu is the Cheese Lover, where a slab of gooey American cheese blankets the juicy and meaty flank. For a little tang of sweetness, Hawaiian takes charge, seaweed and bonito kick in a little Japanese touch, while Mario has bits of button mushrooms. In a nutshell, dine here all week long and a wide spectrum of flavours ensure you palate never gets bored. A handful of piping hot fries elevates the whole chomping experience.
