Literally translated as “boil boil” in Cantonese, looking at lok lok joints give you all reasons to smile. It’s somewhat similar to satay but variety is the name of the game here. Far-flung choices of vegetables, meats, and seafood are skewered then labelled with various colours to highlight the price. It’s quite like playing a virtual Maths quiz while devouring to your heart’s content and there is no such thing as running out of a budget. And the myriad of dipping condiments is lined at the standalone stalls or converted food truck to further enhance your meal. What better way than binging piping-hot finger food in a communal ambiance and perfect cold weather? Who said food trucks are new to our dining scene? These mobile gems have been a sleeper hit among the locals before any sort of trend kick-started.

Ah Sing Lok Lok
With helluva of skewered food spread in a comfy alfresco space, Ah Sing Lok Lok is rated as the most patronised Lok Lok restaurant in town. Everything is fresh and full of flavours while at times tummy space isn’t on your side to devour them all. Among the frontrunners are asparagus wrapped with bacon, bacon with cheese and fried enoki mushrooms. You can opt to cook them yourself but many patrons prefer handing over the cooking task to the courteous staffs and only focus on chomping. Four variations of dipping sauces are available to tantalise your taste buds: sweet-sour, salty-sweet, hot, and ultra-hot.

KK Lok Lok
What you’re looking at is a parade of drool-worthy skewers and it truly justifies being the largest Lok Lok eatery in town. Another big perk here is you can either BBQ, deep-fry or boil your marvellous meats and nothing is rated below delicious. With unique combinations of colours and flavours, the biggest lie you can tell yourself is "this is going to be the last piece" and end up cleaning more than a dozen skewers. And no one is going to judge you as everything is downright amazing, especially once it’s coated with the titivating sauces.

Guaranteeing a jaw workout till late night, never-ending options have you accompanied. If you’re a fan of pork, from regular meat to quirky innards - you’re in for a party. Restaurant See Hai
A brightly-lid and spacious restaurant that is well patronised during dinner and supper. It’s impossible to see tables without bundles of skewers as it's known to cause severe addiction. Once you’re done choosing an armload of vegetables, seafood, and meats, the amiable staffs do the cooking over a charcoal pit that tows a smoky flavour along. What not to be missed is their fresh prawns and chicken wing, you can even delve them down without sauce, but a dip is always part of the feasting formula.
