Bak Kut Teh is a great comfort food to many of us. We have it for breakfast, on rainy nights, on days when we crave for something warm and comforting and on days when we just want to indulge in porky goodness. When we think about BKT, everyone ultimately presumes the best comes from Klang Valley. Melaka is a pretty small state to begin with, so it's not fairly hard to source for BKTs. It's not to say there isn't any nice BKT at all. You'd be surprised to know that Melaka isn't very much behind the whole BKT delicacy. Hence, we've round up some of the best Melaka BKTs here just for you.

Teo Chew Bah Kut Teh (潮州肉骨茶)
If you are looking for something out of the ordinary bak kut teh, this Teo Chew styled BKT can do just as well for an adventurous foodie. The pork broth has less herbal taste and more of the peppery type but tastes equally as good since the pork meat is very tender. Ask any Melakan and you wouldn't be surprised to hear that a waiting queue of 40mins long is pretty normal for this bak kut teh. Despite the long waiting time, we'd say the food is pretty worth it.

Lim Kee Restaurant (林记沙煲肉骨茶)
Apparently to many, Lim Kee are one of the oldest-serving BKT shop in Melaka. Most locals visit Lim Kee continuously for the strong, herbal taste of broth. This isn't the peppery type, so it caters well to the usual local taste of herbal broth. The yam rice is especially loved well here for its aromatic flavor; fried to perfection. Tastes like fried garlic rice, but yam version obviously.

Ah Hui Bak Kut Teh
BKT at Ah Hui's is pretty alright as the broth is just decent, but the tender and juicy pork ribs dipped in the soup totally makes up for it. Comparing to many other peppery BKTs, Ah Hui's definitely lacked in the flavor department but it's great for those who wish for non-overpowering BKT broth. A plus point? The restaurant is air-conditioned! Definitely a cool escape from the heat outside.

Ah Lang Bak Kut Teh 阿兰肉骨茶
Ah Lang's BKT is worth a visit judging from many locals who frequent the place often, especially so on early mornings or brunch hours. The porky meat and trotters are cooked so soft that it melts instantly in your mouth - making the broth all the more sweeter and flavorful. How is that not to die for?! Although it is a tad bit salty but we still love it. How sinful. A great addition is the special pork meatballs. As a KL person, that's very rare on BKTs but it seem to be the normal thing here at Melaka!

黎氏牛肉及肉骨荼 Loi's Top Beef Kut Teh
When people think of BKT, many usually associate them with pork, pork, and more pork (haha). KL readers, you've heard of chicken BKT but did you know of beef BKT? Well there's one here in Melaka, and they do kick up some notch with they beefy goodness. Older residences remember the older branch but since then it has moved to a spanking new shop, much cleaner and spacious, too. Their BKT is served with slices of bloody-red beef meat on top, along with many other goodies like beef balls, foo chook (fried beancurd), and etc.
