When comes to an ice-cold local dessert, cendol is often ranked as one of the all-time favourites among many Malaysians. The ingredients are actually plain and simple: starchy pandan-flavoured green strands, shaved ice, coconut milk and Gula Melaka. Best enjoyed on a hot sunny day (or any time of the day, if you prefer), you can find cendol with different type of toppings such as red beans, sweet corns, durian, pulut and even tapai. Now, Port Dickson is a home to many delicious cendol varieties and here is where you can find them!

Cendol Bakar @ Teluk KemangCertified
halalIf you haven’t try the popular Kuala Selangor-based Cendol Bakar, you might be wondering whether they actually grill the cendol. Nope, it turns out to be the “bakar” part actually refers to the roasted/baked Gula Melaka (palm sugar). This gives the cendol a distinct sweet and smoky flavour. While the basic Cendol O’ is good enough to satisfy your sweet tooth, you can also opt the more fancy version such as Cendol Durian Pulut and Cendol Tapai.

Cendol PD
Situated on the open-air parking lot that also housed a few other stalls selling kuih and laksa varieties, Cendol PD offers a variety of homemade cendol. For the ordinary cendol alone, the coconut milk is milky but not overly sweet to make you feel queasy. If you prefer additional topping, you can opt to mix the cendol with pulut (sticky rice), red beans and sweet corns.

halalSince 2006, Pak Ujang has been concocting cendol dessert using traditional method. That being said, the ordinary cendol truly hits the spot with the right amount of milky sweetness. But if you like your cendol packed with assorted ingredients, there’s plenty of choices to be enjoyed here. You name it, there’s red bean, sweet corn, cincau or pulut. Better yet, mix everything up and go for the Cendol Campur!
