Fried Chicken originated from the country that loves all things fried: U.S.A. Ultimately, the recipe is a South-American one that was brought in by Scottish immigrants. The best kind of fried chicken (at least for us) are those that are battered and then deep fried to a golden crisp perfection. Nonetheless, in more technical terms, fried chicken can either be floured or battered and then either pan-fried, deep-fried or pressure-fried. A perfect piece of fried chicken has a crispy well-seasoned skin and juicy meat as well as rendered of excess fat. In Klang, these are the places to go for finger-lickin' good KFC (Klang Fried Chicken).

Klang Jaya Popular Fried Chicken 好味炸鸡良木园
For deep fried chicken that pack punches of flavor and texture, head onto this food stall that has been humbly garnering fellow foodies over the years. The place has no shelter so we certainly do not recommend visiting the joint on a rainy day. Otherwise, definitely give it a go. Food is relatively cheap and good. The fried chicken skin is crispy but yet not overly oily at the same time.

Nijia Fried Chicken
Commonly mistakenly known as 'Ninja Fried Chicken', the popularized term actually refers to Nijia Fried Chicken. The restaurant is a fried chicken specialty joint and thus, evidently serves up beautifully golden coloured fried chicken! Thighs, drumsticks, wings, breasts, have them all. The white meat is succulent, juicy and tender while the skin is crispy without being too oily. It is no question that Nijia Fried Chicken is a ninja in the scene but hey, let's get the brand right.

As we already know you're a fried chicken connoisseur, the stall in Yao Yao Ping will certainly tickle your fancy. Prices begin from RM 2.50 onwards depending on which part of the chicken you order. These golden treats are fried goodness at its best: crispy and crunchy on the outside while the inside is soft and juicy. The chicken meat itself is succulent as the juices are entrapped in the skin and thus, creating the perfect KFC.

Kopitiam Ah MahCertified
halalAh Mah Kopitiam is like an underrated Old Town White Coffee or PappaRich. Serving Malaysian cuisine, you can pair your fried rice or noodles with an additional piece of fried chicken. The fried chicken here is more 'homemade', not deep fried. The skin is thin but still crispy. More importantly, the meat is succulent and is easily torn apart. If you visit the kopitiam, give other dishes a go, especially local ones such as Hainanese Chicken Rice Balls or Ah Ma Fried Rice.

Texas ChickenCertified
halalPenetrating the fast food market like a bull, Texas Chicken quickly bloomed in year 2014 across our nation. Proving itself to be a tough competitor through its tender-on-the-inside and crunchy-on-the-outside fried chicken, the brand quickly rose to become many's new favourite fast food joint. The principal brand of Texas Chicken is actually Texas state's very own Church's Chicken, and Texas Chicken is simply the given name for the franchise outside of America. Texas Chicken Malaysia used to import Church's sauces (which btw were the bomb!) but since a controversial 'religion' issue broke out, sauces are now supplied by local brand Kimball.

Restoran Shanmuga
Typically packed with patrons for all the right reasons, Restoran Shanmuga can be unforgiving if you come with a growling tummy. Crowds pour in like overspills everyday and thus, do come early to grab a seat to avoid waiting or rumbling around with other customers. The fried chicken here is a must try! Crispy skinned and tenderly juicy meat, the dish is also seasoned very well. Just for this dish, we give Restoran Shanmuga two thumbs up.
