Pit Stop
How about three little pigs for breakfast? Well, that’s the name given for Pit Stop’s most cherished meal to kick start the day. Bacon, omelette and cheese, it’s just a wondrous combination, somewhat the best mix and match since butter and jam. Served piping hot, slicing open egg is rather a heavenly experience, the burst of cheese just melts and you have the crunch of bacon enveloped in the silky smooth egg. It’s served with a dollop of fresh greens, toasted bread and fried hash brown, offering alternate taste and texture to go along the eggy goodness. Sip their freshly brewed coffee which is the best couple of the ideal breakfast set.

Big Ben
This modest eatery not far away from Botanical Garden is where Penangites go to for a Western breakfast encounter – fresh, simple and easy on the wallet. The omelettes definitely give you all reason to be buoyant as toppings of bacon, ham or cheese are available, where cheese habitually rings the orders, a generous handful is sandwiched in the middle of the fluffy whisked batter. Slitter the gilded-brown egg, cheesy goodness just oozes through to intensity your appetite. After a hearty breakfast, you’re pumped to take on the day.

Black Canyon
A stellar spot for anyone looking to wind down after a long day, planted on the ground floor of Gurney Plaza, Black Canyon’s gorgeous alfresco setting does grab your attention. This comfy restaurant predominantly serves Thai food along a large selection of coffees to wash the heat down. Their noodles, spicy tomyam and ocean goodness are worth to devour yet a platter of Minced Chicken and Hot Basil topped on a velvety egg are amazing. The chunks of chickens are tender, offers a zesty kick and the egg liberally absorbs all the juices, giving a wholesome bite of spice and savoury.

Yee Heong Restaurant
Oysters were the only seafood we know that delightfully cuddle with fresh eggs, yet this unassuming restaurant along Campbell Street is changing our frame of mind. They have been churning out authentic Chinese dishes for years that are cheap, simple and utterly delicious. Their omelette version is loaded with plump prawns and handful of tomatoes, which work wonders in your mouth. The tomatoes offer a dash of refreshment and the prawns are fresh and being teased with the eggy coating, it’s undeniably a satisfying one.

Shunka
This renowned Japanese restaurant has been extending their flagship in Penang over the years with their smorgasbord of Japanese servings such as Sashimi, Ramen, Tamagoyaki, Udon and various grilled meats and seafood. Surprisingly, many of their dishes include cheese, where the best-seller is the Japanese Cheese Omellete. A slab of cheese is rolled together with the omelette then lashes of mayonnaise complete the dish. The mayonnaise gives a tinge of sweetness to accompany the cheesy egg layer and it best consumed piping hot. While scarfing down delicate Japanese dishes, the floral ceilings, large Japanese painting lining up the wall and wooden chairs make you forget you’re at the heart of Georgetown.

Pak Hussein Tomyam
A rustic and charming restaurant that is vastly vaunted for their delectable Thai food spread, seafood galore and range of fried rice. Among the sides that are a must-order here is the “Telur Bungkus”, literally translated as wrapped egg. It does tickle your curiosity on what is tucked inside. Say goodbye to cheese, ham and bacon, once you prod your fork in, the floodgates of rich and spicy minced chicken surge through. The chicken bits are tender, soaks up all those flavours of the thick gravy and the omelette layer is thin and holds the dish together. Rather reminiscent of Murtabak yet it’s a whole new experience for your palate.
