Upon first glance of the special fried porridge at Cili 8, it can be seen that special attention was given to the overall presentation of the dish. The crown of fried keropok that's covered in shark fins is surrounded with a moat of porridge, that has ginger pieces, Chinese crullers and sping onions floating on top. This greatly sets up the mood to dine into this bowl of congee. The flavours in this bowl are very well balanced, with the fried keropok giving just enough saltiness to the slightly bland porridge whil the ginger helps to give it an additional kick. This combinatoin also works well from a textural standpoint, as the crispy fried keropok is mixed together with the softer consistency of the porridge.
