Sambal Udang, or Sambal Prawns in iEnglish is a dish that is commonly found in most Malay and Indonesian restaurants. A simple combination between two elements - sambal and prawns, is amazingly delicious, and a dish worthy of compliment to steamy rice. On some occasions, though it's more often that not, petai are used in the dish as well. This gives it a richer, deeper and slightly bitter edge that just helps cut through all that spice and richness. The Tranquerah
The Tranquerah is a great place to be if you're in the mood for some awesome nyonya food. It's located in the quieter area of Kota Damansara - The Strand. Not the best location for a restaurant but hey, it's better than some other places. Anyway, onto their food. They have a wide range of delectable nyonya specialties, one of which includes the sambal udang. It has an incredible depth of flavour with all its seasoning and homemade sauce, with the prawns cooked to tender perfection. Not only that, the use of petai too gives it a richer, deeper and a whole lot more addictive taste profile. All and all, this dish is certainly worth the order and goes great with some warm white rice.
