Sashimi is the Japanese treat known for its freshness that exudes great flavours. While eating raw fish may vary according to preference, once you get on board, it is likely you will go down with the ship. The number one most important thing for sashimi is the freshness, because it requires very little else. The thickness is another important part that contributes to the presentation; the usual thick slices or the hair-thin strips that are wonderful nonetheless. The serving varies from one type of seafood to a variety, but with the same side dip of soy sauce, wasabi and grated ginger, though it is completely optional to use.

Yuzu Japanese Restaurant
Serving authentic Japanese food, Yuzu has been around since 2007 serving the the best of Japanese fine dining. Although slightly more expensive than others serving fresh sashimi, Yuzu still stood out with their quality sashimi. The good thing about Yuzu is that the selection of sashimi is extensive where they also offer premium quality products. Of course, finer things in life comes at a greater cost, but at least the experience would last a lifetime.

Uokatsu
Uokatsu is a quaint establishment in Sri Hartamas that serves a great array of Japanese food. Known for a lot of flavourful and affordable dishes, the sashimi here is also one of the talks of town. Served fresh, the selection of fishes depends as the months go by but the freshness of each is a guarantee. The Yellowtail Hamachi is decadently fatty and oily while the Botan Ebi and Uni deserves all the recognition and love it gets. What used to be a fish and seafood supermarket is now a functional restaurant that remains humble in its decoration and preparation.

Ishin Japanese Dining
The crown jewel at any Japanese restaurant is the sashimi, more so the quality and freshness of the sashimi. Ishin Japanese Dining serves their Sashimi Moriawase of all the freshest fish; salmon, tuna, yellowtail, and sweet shrimp, decorated tastefully on a bed of ice. The texture of the fishes is delightfully soft and chewy, as well as it should be. The sweetness of the shrimp was obvious while the yellowtail was fresh enough that you could bite right through its fleshy meat. All the cuts are satisfyingly thick without being too much with a freshness of the sea that you can taste.

Edo Ichi Japanese Restaurant
Edo Ichi in Nexus Bangsar is one of the many Japanese restaurants around but their quality sashimi proves to be quite the competition for others. The sashimi comes in all-in-one platter, specific plates of a particular seafood, or a whole fish on itself. The usual seafood selection applies in the likes of Salmon Belly, Yellowtail, Tuna, Scallops, and also the much celebrated Sea Urchin and Shrimp, your platter is as exciting as it can be. Whatever you order is, the marks are not only for the fresh quality and the amazing taste but also for the pretty presentation.

Mitasu Japanese Restaurant
Mitasu has one aim, and that aim is to give the public good taste at a fix, buffet price. One of the few that offers a la carte buffet, customers can enjoy a selection of fresh sashimi as well as other Japanese cuisine. But if you see people coming back every week, it is because of the sashimi. While the variety is not much, the ones that are available is hardly disappointing especially considering the price. Sashimi is an acquired taste, while for some have tasted better, Mitasu is more for those who look into sampling a piece of Japanese culture without burning too big of a hole in their pocket.

Kaihomaru
Like most Japanese restaurant, the sashimi platter here comes in either a platter of various cuts and types, or a specific one type seafood that obviously cost much, much less. Freshness of sashimi is expected at any restaurant that serves it, but the ones with a low price tag deserves a special mention. While the a la carte menu has more options, the most sought after is their lunch set sashimi. Getting to sample a small portion but various type of seafood is more than fulfilling for that mid-day cravings.
