Best Sushi in Kota Kinabalu

You can tell from afar that this has to be a Japanese restaurant, just by the design of the entrance. Inside, you'll find the typical use of timber and warm lighting to set the ambiance, and a fairly large bar at the center of the restaurant, prepping fresh sashimi and assorted sushi. Apart from the freshness of the fish which is fairly obvious, the rice is also done quite nicely. With enough fluff and spacing between each grain, without being too sticky nor too dry, it's a heck of a sushi indeed.

Nagisa is one heck of a Japanese restaurant located in  Hyatt Regency Hotel. Styled after a Japanese Winter Cottage, Nagisa Japanese Restaurant aims to provide authentic Japanese cuisine in its extensive ala carte menu. It is also the only 5-star international hotel chain in the city, hence quality is definitely something to expect. As for their nigiri, they're incredibly fresh and sliced perfectly, with the rice being slightly tangy and of course, fluffy and well-stuck.

Wojamama is another Japanese Restaurant located in Jalan Sulaman that offers a wide variety of classic Japanese cuisine. From bento to ramen, yakitori to nigiri, they have it all. On top of that, all their sushi are also freshly made upon order, unless of course you are in a hurry and wanted to take some of the belt instead. Apart from that, pretty good sushi. 

Yuzu Japanese Restaurant is pretty much your everyday go-to place if you're suddenly craving for some Japanese food. It's located in Oceanus Waterfront Mall, which is easily accessible. They offer the standard dishes that you'll find in pretty much any other Japanese restaurant, but done a whole lot better with the skills of their chef. Similarly, their sushi too is quite delicious - with the fish being fresh and cut perfectly, while the rice is fluffy and tangy. 

Nishiki is the oldest Japanese restaurant in Kota Kinabalu and it is located at the center of the town area and just opposite the Sabah Tourism office. Operating since 1987, it is commendable that they managed to maintain the quality and freshness of their ingredient throughout the years. Their price is a bit pricey, but in exchange you get fresh slices of sashimi recommended would be the salmon sashimi and salmon belly sashimi that just melts in your mouth.
